Why We Exist

"Advancing Past the Aces" was created to provide children and families affected by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) with targeted support to break cycles of trauma. Unlike traditional resources such as 211, which offers general connections, we take an individualized approach. Using a list of community organizations and nonprofits, we create personalized plans based on each child’s ACE score. This ensures that every family receives the specific resources and guidance they need to address the unique impacts of trauma in their lives.

The Need We Address

Children exposed to ACEs are more likely to face long-term challenges, from mental and physical health issues to difficulties in education and social engagement. Families often lack access to tailored support that recognizes the specific nature and intensity of their struggles. Without this specialized assistance, many families struggle alone, leading to recurring cycles of hardship. By addressing these unmet needs, we help families navigate and overcome the impact of ACEs, fostering stability and resilience.

The Change We Inspire

Through our customized, ACE-score-based plans, we aim to:

  • Reduce Recidivism: By equipping families with resources that address root causes of behavioral issues, we reduce the likelihood of justice system involvement, helping break the cycle of recidivism.

  • Strengthen Family Bonds: Our services enhance family dynamics by teaching effective communication, conflict resolution, and healthy coping mechanisms.

  • Improve Community Health: By addressing ACE-related trauma early, we help build a healthier community where children grow into resilient adults.

Foster Educational and Social Success: Children in our program gain the tools to succeed academically and socially, laying the foundation for a positive, productive future.
