Can We Do Anything About ACEs?

The short answer is yes. Just because someone has been through ACEs doesn’t mean they’re doomed. Resilience—the ability to bounce back from tough times—can make all the difference.

Here are some things that help build resilience:

  • A strong relationship with a caring adult (a parent, teacher, coach, or mentor).

  • Feeling safe and supported in their environment.

  • Access to mental health resources and community programs.

On a bigger scale, we can create trauma-informed schools, workplaces, and healthcare systems that understand and address these challenges.
